Trevor Arthur Smith, Baron Smith of Clifton Kt (born 14 June 1937) is a British politician who is currently the Liberal Democrat spokesman in the House of Lords on Northern Ireland and constitutional affairs. He served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ulster between 1991 and 1999.

He was created a Knight Bachelor in 1996 for services to higher education[1] and became a life peer as Baron Smith of Clifton, of Mountsandel in the County of Londonderry, on 4 November 1997.[2]
